Will Twitter Aid in the Demise of Facebook?

by Eric Greenspan on May 14, 2010

Seems like Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg could soon be living his worst nightmare. I truly hope not as I’m a big FB fan. The air is filled with FB germs right now and he needs to disinfect fast. Additionally, Twitter is powerful enough to bring the whole thing down on its own, IMHO. Here’s evidence it may already be happening…

Users are deleting their accounts and using Twitter to spread the news. While Twitter is not necessarily a competitor to Facebook, it has a cult like following that could lead to the demise of the “other” monster social networking service. If Twitterers want it gone, they can spread the word fast and a viral mass exodus could ensue.

On May 31st, there is a planned “walk out” on FB, so is this just a sign of what’s to come or is it just fluff? We shall soon see. See Make It Work’s T3 story here.

Twitter Spam in Mentions, Replies and DM: Here’s Why YOU Send Them

February 25, 2010

Curious how you get so many spam messages in Twitter? It’s not rocket science. I just got this one: “hi, i’m 24/female/horny… i have to get off here but message me on my windows live messenger name…” You probably did too. I know @mayhemstudios, @marshacollier and @TopBrokerOC did (thanks you three!). So, how does this [...]

November 19, 2009

Twitter? Facebook? Linkedin? Where does it all end? How many are enough? Which one is here to stay and gone tomorrow? The answer to these questions lies within the questions themselves. YES! NEVER. MAYBE. WHO KNOWS? I myself seem to be drowning in the same frenzy that everyone with a smart phone or computer is [...]

Do your kids Google Poo? (part 2)

November 13, 2009

Ever have a game changing day? After 20+ Poogling seminars in Socal, we were approached by a concerned parent and the Santa Barbara Education Foundation to do a Poogling Seminar (teaching parents about child Internet safety) city-wide. Of course, we agreed to do it. I had no idea that the Superintendent of the Santa Barbara [...]

RANT: Social media/marketing or is it just Sales 101-the online version?

November 5, 2009

I’ve been learning a ton about social media lately, but I have to say, I never feel like I’m actually getting anywhere with it all. I have nothing to sell really, just “call Make It Work when you need onsite computer repairs or help with your gadgets.” But I’m not really selling a product or [...]

To the Moon!

October 29, 2009

If you’ve ever received an email from me, you’d know that I always sign my emails with “to the moon.”  Borrowed from The Honeymooners, I’m shooting for the moon in my business venture.  There really isn’t much else to it. Just a reminder to myself of my goals and ambitions. I’m the CEO of Make [...]
