I was born in Cleveland and went to high school in North Canton (after 8 years in Palm Springs, California). I was about to attend OSU when I left Ohio to return to California. I’ve been in Santa Barbara for 22+ years, completed UCSB a long, long time ago. Still a Buckeye fan at heart.
Ohio was very different from California. When I arrived in 9th grade, I was kind of a “surf punk” wearing K-Swiss and corduroy OP shorts. Didn’t exactly fit in, but I adapted. (I never bought bell bottoms or those square toed boots) I learned to fish, hunt and drink beer in corn fields. It was a good experience, but I’m happy to be back in Cali. I’ve had quite a life here. Put myself through college, two jobs, an internship with IBM, full-time student, all concurrently. I guess it sounds rough, but I just did it and never thought twice about it. Then, three marriages, three businesses, three homes, a handful of apartments in the mix, one son and a story that will fill a great book someday. I’m happily married now, happy in business, the wife and the ex are friends, my son is now 12 and amazing and I have another child on the way. Business at Make It Work is booming, life is good. Life…never dull, never predictable. The moral of the story…GO BUCKEYES!
