Seems like Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg could soon be living his worst nightmare. I truly hope not as I’m a big FB fan. The air is filled with FB germs right now and he needs to disinfect fast. Additionally, Twitter is powerful enough to bring the whole thing down on its own, IMHO. Here’s evidence it may already be happening…

http://twitter.com/#search?q=%22deleted%20my%20facebook%20account%22

Users are deleting their accounts and using Twitter to spread the news. While Twitter is not necessarily a competitor to Facebook, it has a cult like following that could lead to the demise of the “other” monster social networking service. If Twitterers want it gone, they can spread the word fast and a viral mass exodus could ensue.

On May 31st, there is a planned “walk out” on FB, so is this just a sign of what’s to come or is it just fluff? We shall soon see. See Make It Work’s T3 story here.

I also use Tweetdeck on my iPhone. Hootsuite is my favorite for iPhone 3.x (crashes in my OS 4.0 beta 3). But for my iPad…I’ve tried the Tweetdeck for iPad and its missing most of what makes Tweetdeck great elsewhere. It’s a dog so far.

Next, I purchased and tried Twitterific. Nope. Just, nope.

The latest app I’ve purchased and began to use is Twittelator. I must say this app impresses me. Its smooth, has most of what I need but lacks the multiple columns I fell in love with in using Tweetdeck. It’s $4.99, which makes it an expensive [in iPhone/iPad terms anyhow] app to demo.

Twitter on Safari? Someone please tell me how to NOT use it in mobile form and this would solve my problem, for now.

So, my recommendation: I just don’t have anything better to offer than…Use your iPhone or your laptop. You can also just use your old iPhone apps in 2x until things improve.

P.S. If you need help with any of these devices or applications, my company Make It Work is just a phonecall (877)-625-3489 or click away.

All of its accessories were here a month in advance, waiting to connect, wrap and power this powerful and game changing new device. However, I’m not sure it’s changing the game for me. Here’s why…

The iPad has a giant screen for a handheld, but its also a giant device and its heavy. I can’t use it one handed like my iPhone and I can’t hold it and type with two hands. So, for a peck here and there its great, but I find myself reaching for my iPhone or my laptop to get the job done.

The iPad is a touchscreen which means you can’t touch it unless you mean to interact with it. This makes it hard to hold and its always dirty.

Reading a book on my Kindle is a breeze and true pleasure, while the iPad is heavy, awkward to hold and just too much in my hands to enjoy the pages in front of me.

The iPad is a mobile device or is it a computer replacement? Someone needs to choose as sometimes apps are better than sites and other times sites are better, but sometimes, sites are forced/redirected to mobile.site.com which defeats the purpose in my opinion. Facebook does not need an app on the iPad. Twitter does, but should you wish to visit the site, you end up on the mobile version.

I guess if this is the only device I ever used or owned, I’d like it, sort of. I haven’t enabled the 3G feature yet, so I haven’t experienced it out in the wild. Perhaps it will be better in time, but for now, I don’t need it…and no, you can’t have it.

My recommendations:

Make it lighter, smoother on the edges, lose the metal finish (warm it up) and even rubberize its surround

Consider a hybrid sized in-between iPad and iPhone for a larger “one-handed” device

Take a position on what apps are necessary and what are better served as a web page

P.S. If you need help with any of these devices, my company Make It Work is just a phonecall (877)-625-3489 or click away.

I’ve been learning a ton about social media lately, but I have to say, I never feel like I’m actually getting anywhere with it all. I have nothing to sell really, just “call Make It Work when you need onsite computer repairs or help with your gadgets.” But I’m not really selling a product or service. Truth be told, I don’t have enough followers just yet anyhow, so only time will tell if I might change my game-plan.

I’ve met some of the bigwigs on Twitter for Make It Work and had some fun and even helped a few people with some of my tweets, but what is this thing really about I keep asking myself. While my followers are growing rapidly, I still wonder if Twitter is really of any value. That said, Facebook has implemented some new changes that have taken away from the quick response and chatter that was once enjoyable and useful, but great for expanding the Facebook user base and targeting a sales channel. Anyhow, sorry to rant, but I’m frustrated with social media and the concept in general. Email seemed to be working just fine before all this other crap came along.

I may have figured out something about this whole craze though. While many of the people I’ve met (no names mentioned here) are very well connected and know a great deal about the tools in play here, I think they are all after the same thing. Sure, networking is the focus, but why build a giant Twitter following in the first place? I think it’s so you can be influential on people’s buying decisions and more directly, sell things. I’m not talking about the guy that DM’s you and says, “this link will change your life.” Rather, the guy who invites you to learn more about something you care about and finishes the discussion/seminar/webinar/call/meeting with a “you can buy it here.” By having many followers and becoming trusted, you can simply tweet, “check this out, I love it” and many will follow, buy and you get paid a commission. Do most know this is happening to them when they follow their trusted leaders advice or do they even care?

There is an entire new world of Internet marketers out there and while Amazon might come to mind when I say this, what I really mean are the folks that are prominent figures on Twitter and Facebook, have a strong following and constantly share information about whatever is top of mind. Sometimes it’s just advice, or perhaps it’s something of interest, but often enough its an indirect sales pitch playing a numbers game in a world of trusting and bewildered individuals focused on watching their tweets, status updates and even an email from time to time. Long story short, followers = buyers. What is being sold and how is different, but it reminds me of multi-level marketing (Avon, JuicePlus, Quorum, Herbalife, Monavie), in different clothes (probably pajamas). I’ll bet those in the MLM game that figure out the SM game are the true winners of this race.

Follow Make It Work on Twitter to interact with Eric Greenspan, CEO of Make It Work.

To the moon!
